MRI coil storage and monitoring platform
Concept designs for Echos Technologies.
Application: Storage and monitoring of MRI coils while they are not in the bore of the magnet.
Taking inspiration from medical devices I observed during the annual Radiological Society North America conference in 2022, I designed this device to be approachable, easy to use and ergonomic in high stress environments such as the MRI wing of a hospital.
The device sits in the monitoring room of an MRI suite and updates technicians and doctors if there are any anomalies in the function of a coil so it can be promptly serviced before it is needed for a scan.
Features include indicator lights to visually assess the status of the coils while they are being stored and fewer rescheduled scans as a result.
In case an issue is detected by the device, notifications are sent to all concerned parties, which can initiate the service protocols as needed.
Additional views showcase the modular shelf design which allows the hospital staff to reconfigure the platform depending on the size of the MRI coils they want to store in the platform.
